Emergency care

Faculty Hospital — emergency reception

Fakultní nemocnice Olomouc (Olomouc Faculty Hospital) has an emergency reception department and — a rare thing in the Czech Republic — publishes the current waiting queue directly on its website. It's worth checking how many people are waiting before you go.

Since January 1, 2026, the organization of emergency care in the Czech Republic has been transferred from the regions to insurance companies, so the published schedules of on-call services are unstable. In case of a life threat — 155.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the city

Where to go for temporary protection in Olomouc?+

To třída Kosmonautů 989/8 — both KACPU and the regular migration department are there, in the same building.

⚠️ The old address is no longer valid. Until January 2024, KACPU operated in the Haná Barracks on 1. máje street; it closed on January 26, 2024. The problem is that the city's website for help to Ukraine was last updated in 2023 — and still sends people there.

Hours: Monday and Wednesday 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 12:30 PM–5:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, Friday by invitation only. Temporary protection hotline — 974 801 802.

How much does housing cost in Olomouc?+

A 60 m² apartment in July 2026 — around 16,891 CZK per month.

This is in the middle of the Czech range: more expensive than Ostrava (14,567 CZK) and Liberec (14,934 CZK), about the same as in Pilsen (17,237 CZK), cheaper than Brno (21,427 CZK) and significantly cheaper than Prague (26,025 CZK).

The salary in the region is 43,819 CZK, which is lower than the national average (50,282 CZK). As everywhere in the Czech Republic, rent is in addition to a separate advance payment for utilities.

Where to go with an urgent problem?+

At Fakultní nemocnice Olomouc (University Hospital Olomouc) — and before you go, check its website: the hospital publishes the current queue for urgent care. This is rare in Czechia and very useful when you need to decide whether to go now or wait.

Consider the nationwide change: from January 1, 2026, the organization of emergency care shifted from the regions to insurance companies, so the published schedules of on-call services across the country are currently unstable.

In case of life threat — 155 or 112.

Before you set off

🔴 The old address of the temporary protection center is no longer valid. KACPU moved from the Haná Barracks (1. máje street) in January 2024 — it is now at třída Kosmonautů 989/8, in the Ministry of the Interior building. The city's website for help to Ukraine was last updated in 2023 and still provides the old, invalid address.
🔴 You must appear by September 30, 2026, to get a visa sticker for extended temporary protection (extended until 03/31/2027). Details are in the legalization hub.

Official pay statistics at city level barely exist in Czechia, so we show the region and say which one. Office addresses and prices in the guide always carry a source and a date of checking — without those they do not appear here at all.
