The Municipal Court in Prague sentenced three minors to 7, 6, and 5 years in prison. The harshest punishment was given to a young man who showed exceptional cruelty during an attack on a homeless Ukrainian man under a bridge in the Krejcárek district. The teenagers had agreed in advance on Telegram to "beat up a drunk or a gypsy," filmed the act, and hit the victim on the head with a shovel. Judge Kateřina Hájková emphasized that the violence was cold-blooded, unprovoked, and committed for fun or out of social hatred. The oldest of the group, an 18-year-old Russian citizen, received a 5-year prison sentence and a deportation order from the Czech Republic for five years.
In addition to the attack on the homeless man, two 16-year-old accomplices were involved in another crime – a commissioned beating of a 19-year-old boy in the Bohnice district. The masked teenagers, armed with telescopic batons and chains, attacked the victim because of jealousy from an adult client, who also received a 5-year prison sentence. The court noted that the victims were saved only by their thick winter clothing, which prevented fatal injuries, but the victims suffered severe psychological trauma. The convicted individuals are also required to pay compensation to the victims and cover their medical expenses.
