Daňové přiznání

tax return

What does “Daňové přiznání” mean in Czechia?

Daňové přiznání is an annual income declaration for a natural person (shortened to DAP).

Deadlines for 2025 (filed in 2026)

 • Paper form — April 1, 2026
 • Electronic form — May 4, 2026
 • Through a tax advisor or with an audit — July 1, 2026

🔴 A trap that catches everyone

The tax must be paid by the same deadline as the declaration is filed — not the latest possible one. If you filed a paper form on April 1 → you must pay by April 1, not by May 4. The grace period is 5 working days.

Who must file

 • anyone who worked for two employers at the same time with advance tax for at least one month;
 • anyone whose side income is over 20,000 CZK.

Where to file

The MOJE daně portal, datová schránka (data box), or the Tax Administration's application.

Important. 🔴 You opened a živnosť (sole-trader licence) and received an IČO (company ID number) — a data box is created automatically and is mandatory (from 01.01.2023). With it, you will receive a mandatory electronic tax return. The paper version is no longer available for you.

Frequently asked questions

I submitted my tax declaration on paper on April 1. Can I pay the tax by May 4?
No. The tax is paid at the same time as the tax return is filed: if you filed a paper return, you pay by April 1. The grace period is 5 working days; after that, there are penalties.
I worked for one employer all year. Do I need to file a tax return?
Probably not — you will have enough with the roční zúčtování (annual tax reconciliation) from your employer. A tax declaration is mandatory if you worked for two employers at the same time for at least one month with advance tax payments, or if you have side income over 20,000 CZK.
