According to Eurostat, the price of diesel fuel in March jumped by 27.6%, and gasoline by 14.6%. It is noteworthy that the Czech Republic's neighbors handled the crisis much more gently: in Slovakia and Hungary, diesel fuel increased in price by only 7%, partly due to the introduction of purchase limits and differentiated prices for local and foreign citizens.
Despite the fact that price cap mechanisms are in place in the Czech Republic, the country shared the status of the European anti-record holder for the speed of fuel price increases with Sweden.
