Zápis — enrollment (registration) of a child into mateřská škola (nursery school) or základní škola (elementary school).

Special enrollment for Ukrainian children is canceled (from 2025/2026). There is no longer a separate June enrollment — Ukrainian children enroll in the general procedure and within the general deadlines, together with everyone else.
How it works in practice
- find your spádová škola (assigned school) in your municipality
- submit a written application
- the school must accept — unless it is full
Deadlines
Enrollment deadlines for nursery schools differ by region — check with the specific school or kindergarten and your city's website. For odklad (postponement) of school attendance, ask the principal in writing from April 1 to April 30.
