Czech meteorologists have published a forecast for the next month. This forecast will especially please those planning a holiday during the May public holidays. After a long period of cool weather, a long-awaited warming will come to the country, with very little rain.
The current week and the next week will be colder than usual. Average daytime temperatures will be around 14 °C. However, there will be sharp changes during this period:
Saturday will be the warmest day of this week. The air will warm up to 16–21 °C, and in Moravia, the temperature may rise to 23 °C. On Sunday, a sharp cooling is expected (a drop of 10 degrees). The sky will become cloudy, there will be rain, and in the mountains, there might even be wet snow. The temperature will drop to 8–13 °C.
Real summer will begin with the arrival of May. The first two weeks of the month include two public holidays and, therefore, two long weekends: May 1 (Friday) - Labour Day and May 8 (Friday) - Victory Day.
At the beginning of May, meteorologists predict a temperature jump of 5 degrees. Average daytime temperatures will be around 19 °C, and in the middle of the month, thermometers will regularly go above +20 °C.
Despite the pleasant weather for walks, environmentalists and farmers are concerned. The coming month is expected to be dry, which will worsen the lack of moisture that has built up since the beginning of the year.
The most critical situation with rainfall is observed in the Hradec Králové, Olomouc, and Liberec regions, where less than 60% of the normal amount has fallen. At the same time, the Karlovy Vary and Plzeň regions are currently handling the water deficit better than others.
