The Olomouc city government is checking the condition of civil protection shelters to update the list of available safe places. Currently, the city has 11 main shelters that can hold 4,000 people. In case of danger, about 80 Cold War-era bunkers can be used. These are located in schools, the Moravian Theatre, and even on private property. Underground parking lots and underpasses can also be quickly changed to shelter people.
The city plans to inform residents using the modern Cell Broadcast system. In the second half of the year, this system will start sending emergency instructions to phones in risk areas. This will add to the city's network of sirens and warning systems.
