Pohotovost

urgent (emergency) medical service

What does “Pohotovost” mean in Czechia?

Pohotovost — an on-call service you go to when your general practitioner is closed, but your condition does not require calling an ambulance.

How much it costs

  • a 90 CZK regulatory fee — for both doctor and dentist pohotovost
  • not charged if the doctor decides to admit you to the hospital

Who is exempt

  • children from orphanages
  • people in material need

🆕 Change from 2026

From 01.01.2026, health insurance companies will be responsible for providing pohotovost, not the regions.

Important. 90 CZK is a regulatory fee for visiting the emergency room. You do not pay this fee if you are admitted to the hospital. Emergency dental care costs the same.
