Obvyklé bydliště (usual place of residence) is your normal home. In the context of transport, it is a legal switch: until you have it, there is no obligation to exchange your Ukrainian driver's license for a Czech one.
How it arises
Obvyklé bydliště arises when you have lived in the Czech Republic for 185 days within a calendar year.
What this means
- From the moment obvyklé bydliště arises, a period of 3 months begins for exchanging your driver's license.
- The same period is counted from the date your long-term residence permit is issued.
Important exception
The obligation to exchange your license does not apply if your residence permit is not valid for longer than 1 year — even if you have already lived there for 185 days.
