Rekvalifikace

reskilling with state support

What does “Rekvalifikace” mean in Czechia?

Rekvalifikace — retraining for a new profession through the Úřad práce (Office of Labour), during which a person receives financial support.

Main Change in 2026

The support rate during retraining has increased from 60% to 80% of the previous net earnings. For those without confirmed earnings, the payment is 19,269 Kč.

Why It's More Beneficial Than Regular Unemployment Benefits

Regular unemployment benefits provide 80% only for the first few months, then drop to 50% and 40%. Rekvalifikace means 80% throughout the training, so the rate does not decrease over time. For someone changing professions anyway, the difference is significant.

What to Consider

For Ukrainians, retraining often competes with the nostrification of a diploma. Before retraining from scratch, check: diplomas from the USSR issued from 06.06.1972 to 27.02.2000 are recognized automatically, and for non-regulated professions, nostrification is not required at all — the employer decides.

Important. Before you go for retraining, check if your diploma is not recognized already. For non-regulated professions, Nostrifikácia (diploma recognition) is not required, and Soviet diplomas from 1972–2000 are recognized automatically.
