eRecept

electronic Recept

What does “eRecept” mean in Czechia?

eRecept — electronic prescription, the standard way to get medicine in the Czech Republic.

🆕 Main change in 2026: protective limit works online

Before, exceeding the ochranný limit (protective limit) was returned once a quarter. In 2026, this works online through eRecept: if you exceed the limit, the extra payment is taken directly at the pharmacy — you don't need to return anything or write anywhere.

Limits per year

  • 5,000 CZK — adults
  • 1,000 CZK — children under 18 and people 65+
  • 500 CZK — people 70+ and some people with disabilities

The limit resets every January.

Important. Only eligible co-payments for partially covered prescription drugs are counted. Vitamins, food supplements, and over-the-counter drugs do not count towards the limit, no matter how much you spend on them.
