Changing your insurance company
- once every 12 months
- only from January 1 or July 1
- application — at least 3 months before: by March 31 (to change from July 1) or by September 30 (to change from January 1)
- within 8 days, inform your employer and return your old insurance card
Your insurance company's duty to you
According to § 40 of Act No. 48/1997 Coll., the insurance company must ensure that services are available locally and in time — this includes finding a doctor for you. From January 1, 2026, insurance companies will also be responsible for providing emergency services.
