What does “Maturita” mean in Czechia?

Maturita is a Czech high school graduation exam. Important note: there is no special "for Ukrainians" regime — the general rule for those who studied abroad applies.

Who is eligible for benefits (§ 20 para. 6)

From 01.01.2026, the scope is expanded: a student studied abroad for 2 years within the previous 8 (previously it was 1 year out of 7).

What they give

ČJL didactic test — +30 minutes and a dictionary.
Written exam — +40% time.

🔴 What is removed from 01.01.2026

The automatic right to Pravidla pravopisu (Rules of Spelling) and Slovník spisovné češtiny (Dictionary of Standard Czech) is canceled. Previously, these aids were provided by default — now they are not.

Important. The exemption for the maturity exam is not "Ukrainian" but general: it counts if you studied abroad for 2 years within the previous 8. Check if your child qualifies for it at all.

Is there a separate matura exam for Ukrainians?

No. The general rule § 20, paragraph 6 applies: benefits are received by someone who studied abroad for 2 years within the previous 8.

Can I use the Pravidlá pravopisu (Slovak spelling rules)?

Automatic right to Pravidla pravopisu (Rules of Orthography) and Slovník spisovné češtiny (Dictionary of Standard Czech) is canceled from 01.01.2026.
