Zkušební doba — trial period, during which either side can end the employment relationship without giving a reason.
What changed from 01.06.2025
The so-called flexinovela extended the maximum periods:
- regular employee — 4 months (was 3);
- vedoucí zaměstnanec, meaning a manager — 8 months (was 6).
These are the maximums, not the rule: the employer can set a shorter period or not set one at all. But you cannot agree to a longer period — the law sets the upper limit.
Why this is important right now
The extension from 3 to 4 months means that the period without protection from dismissal has become one-third longer. During the trial period, neither the two-month výpovědní doba (notice period) nor the right to odstupné (severance pay) apply — meaning the cost of a mistake when choosing an employer has increased.
