What does “Adaptačně-integrační kurz” mean in Czechia?

Adaptation-Integration Course "Welcome to the Czech Republic" is a required course for some foreigners. It is often confused with free Czech language courses, but they are completely different.

How much it costs

  • 1,500 CZK.
  • 800 CZK — if the employer pays.

Who must take it

Foreigners with a long-term residence permit issued from 01.01.2021 must complete it within 1 year. The fine for not completing it is up to 10,000 CZK.

Who is exempt

People under 15 years old and over 61 years old.

Holders of a special long-term residence permit are not required to take the course — § 7w par. 4.

Important. Do not confuse: "Vítejte v ČR" (Welcome to the Czech Republic) is a paid and mandatory course, while language courses from CIC, InBáze, or Charity are different and almost always free.
