Preventivní prohlídka — a preventive check-up with a general practitioner, not related to a specific complaint: it is done to find a problem before it becomes a symptom.
What you need for this
- to be covered by public health insurance (veřejné zdravotní pojištění)
- to be registered with a general practitioner — and your insurance company must help you find one, according to § 40 of Act No. 48/1997 Coll.
What this means for Ukrainians with temporary protection (DO)
Coverage under public health insurance is full, the same as for Czech citizens, not just "emergency care only." Therefore, preventive check-ups are not a privilege or a paid option "for locals."
How often
The interval and scope of check-ups depend on age and gender. Your general practitioner or insurance company will tell you the exact schedule for you — they keep your records.
