consolidated payment of Czech Post

What does “SIPO” mean in Czechia?

SIPO is a payment tool of the Czech Post (Česká pošta) that collects regular payments into one summary item: instead of several transfers, you pay one amount.

Main Misunderstanding

🔴 SIPO is a payment method, not a type of payment. Advance payments for services can go through SIPO, but the item "SIPO" in a contract by itself does not say anything about what exactly you are paying for and in what amount.

What this means in practice

  • "You pay SIPO 4,000 CZK" is not an answer to the question of what this amount consists of.
  • Demand a breakdown of the items: what is included in the summary payment.
  • The annual truth about actual consumption will still be shown by the vyúčtování (billing statement), not the SIPO amount.
Important. Never accept "this is SIPO" as an explanation of the amount. One combined item is convenient for payment but not for checking. You need to ask for a breakdown separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is SIPO a separate tax or fee?
No. This is a tool from the Czech Post for combining regular payments into one item — a payment method, not a payment type.
How to understand what exactly I am paying for in SIPO?
Ask your landlord for a breakdown of the charges. Once a year, check it against the statement of account according to Act No. 67/2013 Coll.
