What does “Cermat” mean in Czechia?

Cermat is a state institution that prepares and evaluates the jednotná přijímací zkouška (unified entrance exam) for secondary schools and the state part of the maturitní zkouška (school-leaving exam). In simple terms: this is where the tasks your child solves come from.

What this means for Ukrainian families

The rules for special accommodations are set not by the school or Cermat, but by law — so you need to refer to § 20 of the School Act:

Admission (§ 20, paragraph 4, from 01.01.2026): Czech language exam → interview, if the student studied outside the Czech Republic for ≥1 school year within the previous 3 years; +25% time; a translation dictionary. 🔴 Math in Ukrainian is no longer possible.
Maturita (§ 20, paragraph 6, from 01.01.2026): accommodations for those who studied abroad for 2 years within the previous 8. Czech language and literature (ČJL) didactic test +30 minutes and a dictionary; written work +40% time.

Important. There is no special regime "for Ukrainians" at the beginning or at the end of studies. There are general benefits for studying abroad. Check if you qualify for them based on the years of study.
