Jednotná přijímací zkouška (JPZ) — this is the unified state entrance exam for the final exams of secondary schools. For Ukrainian children in 2026, the rules have changed significantly — in both directions.
What has improved (§ 20, paragraph 4, from 01.01.2026)
- The Czech language exam is replaced by a conversation if the student studied outside the Czech Republic for ≥1 school year out of the previous 3.
- +25% time for completion.
- A translation dictionary is allowed.
🔴 What has worsened
It is NO LONGER possible to take the mathematics exam in Ukrainian. This is the most important change for parents: mathematics preparation must be done using Czech terminology.
About language preparation
For children with temporary protection (dočasnou ochranou), language preparation (jazyková příprava) is available — up to 400 hours per year for free, systematically through regional authorities (krajské úřady), directly in schools.
