What does “Doplatek na léky” mean in Czechia?

Medicine Co-payment — the amount you pay at the pharmacy for medicine that is not fully covered by insurance.

Co-payments That Count Towards the Limit

Only co-payments that count towards the limit are included in the protection limit. These are co-payments for prescription medicines that are only partially covered.

What is NOT Included in the Limit

vitamins
food supplements (dietary supplements)
over-the-counter medicines

Annual Co-payment Limit

5,000 CZK — adults
1,000 CZK — children under 18 and people aged 65+
500 CZK — people aged 70+ and some people with disabilities

In 2026, after you reach the limit, the co-payment will be removed directly at the pharmacy through eRecept.

Important. Not every co-payment counts as a deductible co-payment: only co-payments for partially covered prescription drugs count towards the protective limit. The same, if bought without a prescription, will not be counted in the limit.
