Portál občana — a government portal-cabinet where a person can see their data in registers and communicate with government offices. For Ukrainians with temporary protection, it has one function that is more important than all others.
Checking your address is not "just in case"
From May 12, 2025, temporary protection will end by law if a person is registered at an administrative body's address for 90 days (§ 5 para. 8 letter e) of Act No. 65/2022 Coll.). The process is simple and quiet: the accommodation provider deregisters you, or the police don't find you — the Ministry of the Interior cancels your address — you are assigned the address of the OAMP (Department for Asylum and Migration Policy) — after 90 days, your protection disappears.
No decision is issued, and people are not notified. Consequences: you cannot work, and your health insurance disappears. The only way to see this in time is to check your address yourself in the register of inhabitants through the Portál občana.
From August 1, 2026, login through a data box will end — only through the Citizen's Identity (Identita občana).
