Úřad práce

Úrad práce (Office of Labour)

What does “Úřad práce” mean in Czechia?

Úřad práce — employment office, which handles job placement, unemployment benefits, and social payments.

What happens there without you

Holders of temporary protection do not need a work permit — access to the labor market is free. But the employer must submit an informační karta (information card) to the Úřad práce no later than the day the work begins. This is their duty, not yours, but the consequences of not doing it affect both.

Registration

Online — through the Jenda (jenda.mpsv.cz) portal with Citizen's Identity, or in person.

The most important deadline

An application for unemployment benefits must be submitted within 3 working days after the end of employment — then it will be counted from the beginning. If you miss this, you simply lose the days, and you cannot make them up.

Rekvalifikace

The support rate for retraining is 80% (previously 60%); without confirmed earnings — 19 269 Kč.

Another reason not to disappear from the register

Being registered at the Úřad práce counts as pracovní aktivita (work activity) for social benefits — this is an alternative to the requirement to work at least 30 hours per month.

Important. Three working days to submit the application — the most expensive deadline in the whole topic of work. If you submit on time, the benefit will be credited retroactively from the day work ended; if you are late, the days are simply lost.
